Invisalign®

Bracket free, wire free, metal free. You can get your teeth straightened without the look, feel, or time commitment of traditional
braces—with Invisalign® invisible braces from Dr. Brady Sherly.

What Is Invisalign?

Invisalign invisible braces are a series of clear, custom-made aligners that straighten your teeth. After you receive a complete examination and it’s determined that Invisalign is right for you, Dr. Sherly will take pictures, x-rays, and impressions of your teeth. Based on the impressions and a treatment plan from Dr. Sherly, the Invisalign laboratory will custom make the series of aligners for you.

How Does Invisalign Work?

Each set of aligners is designed to move your teeth to a new position. Dr. Sherly will give you the first set of aligners, which you will wear for two weeks. Initially, the aligners will feel uncomfortable. That’s because they are made for the new position to which your teeth will move. They will be more comfortable after a few days, but you’ll continue to wear them to give your teeth and gums time to adjust to the new position. After two weeks, you will switch to a new set of aligners. You will continue to repeat this process until you’ve worn all of the aligners. The result—a beautifully aligned smile.

Every four to six weeks, you will have an appointment with Dr. Sherly. He will check the progress of the treatment and determine if any adjustments are needed. The typical treatment time is one year.

Invisalign Pros and Cons

Invisalign

PROS

People won’t be able to tell that you are wearing the aligners. They straighten your teeth in half the time of traditional braces. The aligners are much more comfortable than traditional braces. There is no metal to irritate your gums or scratch your cheeks. It’s easier to maintain good oral hygiene, because you remove the aligners to eat and to brush and floss your teeth. The movement of your teeth is more precise than traditional braces.

CONS

They are more expensive than traditional braces. Because they are removable, you must be diligent about wearing them for the designated time each day. This might present a problem for some teenagers who may forget to put them back in, or who may lose them.
